Abstract

The territorial management of aging represents a real challenge for New Brunswick municipalities. This contribution illustrates the changes that have occurred in this area and, more specifically, to municipal infrastructures, equipment and services, between 2014 and 2021, in the Regional Municipality of Tracadie. The analysis is based on semi-structured interviews with local elected officials and stakeholders working with seniors. Although respondents noted an overall improvement in the territorial management of aging, gaps remain, particularly in the former local service districts, notably with regard to sidewalks and snow removal. The implementation of an urban plan that considers the particular realities of seniors would undoubtedly mitigate the effects of such shortcomings.
